VEHICLE LARCENY SUSPECT IN CUSTODY – Shelby Township Police say they have arrested a suspect believed to have been responsible for a number of recent larcenies from vehicles overnight from the area west of Shelby Rd. between 23 and 25 Mile. REMINDER TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM SCAMS – This is a reminder that the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office does not solicit money, gift cards, or other valuables from anyone with a warrant over the phone. MCSO has had several reports that residents are being contacted by phone and told they have a valid warrant for their arrest. On one occasion, the caller’s telephone number showed up as the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office main line. The callers state they are with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office and sometimes portrays themselves as a Deputy or Detective. The caller gives a date and time in which the resident must turn themselves in and/or turn over cash or gift cards to the caller to avoid jail. When questioned on specific information, the caller will sometimes hang up on the resident. These calls are not being made from the MCSO office and the caller is not affiliated with the sheriff’s office. Never give out personal identifying information over the phone. If a citizen has received a phone call similar to this, they can make a formal report with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. This case is currently under investigation.
CREDIT CARD FRAUD IN MACOMB – On Sunday, June 24 at approximately 2:15 p.m., an unidentified female entered a business in Macomb Township and used a credit card that did not belong to her. The sheriff’s office would like to speak with her about this. The female arrived at the business as a passenger in a green or gray vehicle. She is described as a heavy set black female with a tattoo above her right breast. She was wearing a long purple dress and wore her hair in braids. HE MUST HAVE KNOWN THEY WERE THERE – The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is seeking to identify a man in connection with a theft this month in Macomb Township. During the early morning hours on Saturday, June 2, soda dispensers and a shelving unit were stolen from a business in Macomb Township. The man responsible is described as a white male, approximately 50 years old wearing a tan baseball cap, blue jean shorts, and a dark green short sleeve shirt. The vehicle appears to be a newer burgundy Ford truck. A portion of the license plate read “962”. Anyone who can identify this male or with information on this incident is asked to contact Detective Lafriniere at 586-469-6634.
