ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO MURDER – On July 29 at approximately 7 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff deputies responded to a residence on Cathey Ave. in Washington Township for an assault. Deputies were told that a male had left the residence in a vehicle and that a second person was lying on the porch. Upon arrival, deputies located a female victim lying on the porch. She was injured and bleeding from multiple puncture wounds to her head and right side of her body. The female was transported to the hospital for treatment. The male, Paul Bashi, 35, was located walking down a nearby street. He had what appeared to be blood on him and was taken into custody. He is lodged at the Macomb County Jail. Deputies did not find anyone else inside the residence, however; controlled substances were located. Bashi’s vehicle was also located nearby. The male and female are said to be in a dating relationship and reside together at the residence in Washington Township. The information was presented to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for the male; one count of Assault With Intent to Murder (felony – life) and one count of Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture – Schedules 1, 2 and 3 Except Marihuana, Methamphetamine, Ecstasy, and Cocaine. (7-year felony). The substance located was “Jintropin” which is a human growth hormone. The female is in stable condition at this time. Bashi was arraigned in the 42-1 Romeo District Court and given a $5 million dollar bond. If Bashi is released on bond, he must have a GPS tether. He is scheduled to be back in court on 8/14/18 at 1:30 p.m.
CHILD SEXUALLY ABUSIVE MATERIAL – On July 24, the Macomb County Sheriff’s Macomb Area Computer Enforcement (MACE) unit was alerted to a male communicating with a social media profile believed to be a 14-year-old female. The male was communicating for sexual purposes. Billy Goldsmith, male, 59, out of Holly contacted what he believed to be a 14-year-old female by way of social media. Goldsmith had a personal profile and reached out to the “14-year-old” requesting to “hook up.” Mace detectives controlled the female profile while Goldsmith continued to make inappropriate sexual conversation and was reminded of the female’s age several times. Goldsmith sent photographs of male genitalia to the female and requested to meet with her for sexual purposes. Goldsmith was given an address by undercover MACE detectives to meet with the female in Harrison Township. On July 26 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Goldsmith arrived at the location and was taken into custody without incident. Goldsmith was lodged at the Macomb County Jail. Information was presented to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office and a seven-count warrant was issued for Goldsmith; four counts of Child Sexually Abusive Activity (20 year felony), one count of Computers – Internet – Communicating With Another to Commit Crime (20 year felony), one count of Children – Accosting for Immoral Purposes (4 year felony), and one count of Computers – Using to Commit A crime – (7 year felony). Goldsmith was arraigned on 7/27/18 in the 41-B Clinton Township District Court and given a $250,000 bond. If Goldsmith is released on bond he is to have no contact with minors, no use of computers and internet, and must be on a tether for home confinement. Goldsmith is scheduled to be back in the 41-B Clinton Township District Court on 8/8/18 at 8:30 a.m.
SUBWAY ROBBERY SUSPECT NOW IN CUSTODY – The suspect, a man dressed in an orange construction vest and red baseball cap, who is believed to have robbed two Oakland County Subway restaurants last week at gunpoint, was arrested Wednesday by Riverview police. Prior to his arrest, the same suspect also allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven store on the 19000 block of Allen Rd. in Brownstown Township around 1:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25. In this incident, the suspect pulled out a handgun while purchasing an item and demanded the store clerk give him money from the register, then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
HIT & RUN SUSPECT STILL AT LARGE – Deputies responded to the area of Morgan Rd and Homesite Drive (West of Baldwin Rd) in Orion for a hit and run pedestrian injury accident. The victim was walking her dog westbound on Morgan Rd in the eastbound lane, so that she could see oncoming traffic, when she and her dog were struck from behind by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle was traveling westbound on Morgan when the driver crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the victim and her dog. The victim suffered a fractured arm and her dog was killed. The suspect’s vehicle is classified as a General Motors minivan produced between 2005 to 2009. The Chevrolet Uplander model is a good example of this body style, but it may be an Oldsmobile or Pontiac model also as they the produced a similar style vehicle. The wide black trim or rub rail is distinctive and the vehicle could have some possible damage to the front-end and possibly the drivers-side mirror.
