■ JUST DOING HIS JOB. Shelby Police received a call about a man disassembling some equipment in a parking lot off of Van Dyke Ave. The caller was “unsure if he is supposed to be doing so” and “would like it checked out”. The man in question was driving a green truck and was located. Officers spoke with the man who was just a metal scrapper doing his job.
■ PEOPLE WATCHING GOT CREEPY. A caller from Shelby Township reported that an older man was parked in an older model tan Oldsmobile on the east side of Shelby Road. The caller stat- ed that the man was just sitting in his car with the windows down “gawking” at people as they walked by. The caller felt that the man was particularly suspicious because runners frequently run through the area. The man was located and advised to move along.
■ LEAVE THE DUCKS ALONE. Police received a call about three young males in a small boat on a lake behind a property off of Ryan Rd. The men were reportedly using a small pellet gun or something of the like to shoot at ducks on the water. Police responded to the call but the men had already left.
■ CALLED THE COPS ON HIS DAD. An 11-year-old boy called Shelby Police to report that he was home alone and someone was knocking on the front door, even though he wasn’t expecting anyone. He told the dispatch that he was unable to see outside to check who it was. Fortunately, the mysterious per- son ended up being the boy’s father.
■ TRESPASSING TEENS AT CONSTRUCTION SITE. Police received a call about a group of five teens hanging out in some new construction off of Shelby Rd. The caller shined his flashlight on them and they reportedly took off going Southbound on Shelby from the complex. Police checked the area and spoke with several juveniles who were at a nearby cul-de-sac. They also checked the new building and there were no signs of damage. The juveniles were escorted home.
■ ATTEMPTED B&E CAUGHT ON TAPE. Caller notified Police that they had just discovered a breaking and entering attempt on their property located on 23 Mile Road. The victim was reviewing security footage and discovered the attempted b&e, which happened Monday.
