DECEASED MAN FOUND IN SHALLOW CREEK – On May 19 at approximately 1:30 p.m. officers from the Shelby Township Police Department responded to a call in the area of Shelby Rd. and 24 Mile Rd. for a possible deceased person found submerged in a shallow creek. A deceased male was subsequently recovered from the water. Positive identification has not been confirmed and official cause of death has not been determined. The incident remains under investigation.

FATAL CRASH IN WASHINGTON TWP – On May 19 at approximately 4:20 a.m., Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a crash on 28 Mile Rd, west of Mount Vernon in Washington Township. A driver passing by had observed the single vehicle on the side of the road near a tree and called the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrived on scene and located a 2006 black Dodge Dakota and a deceased white male trapped underneath the vehicle. The deceased male was later identified as Gavin Miller, 17, out of Washington Township. No other persons were located and it was later learned that Miller was the lone driver of the vehicle. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of this crash.

ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE AND SUICIDE – Again on May 19 at approximately 10:40 p.m., Macomb County Dispatch received a 911 call from a female stating she had been shot multiple times. The female stated the shooter was her husband and that he had also shot himself. Deputies arrived on scene to the Macomb Storage facility located on Main St. in New Haven. Both persons were transported to the hospital. The male, Brandon Dodd, 25, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The female, 24, is in critical condition and had been shot four times in the abdomen, buttocks, and shoulder area. Dodd and the victim reside in New Baltimore. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this incident.

ALCOHOL NOT A FACTOR IN FATAL CRASH – On May 21 at approximately 5:05 p.m., Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash on Van Dyke Ave. just south of 36 Mile Rd. A black 2009 Chevrolet pickup truck was headed northbound on Van Dyke and a maroon 2009 Chevrolet HHR was headed southbound on Van Dyke. The two vehicles crashed head-on just south of 36 Mile Rd. The pickup was occupied by a white male driver, 50, out of Attica, who was transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition. The HHR was driven by a white male and occupied by a female passenger. The female passenger, 23, out of Bad Axe, was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. The male driver was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The male driver is identified as Jerome Kladzyk, 35, out of Bad Axe. The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of this crash. It is not believed that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the cause and all occupants were wearing seatbelts.
